As we get older, it can be harder to make friends and find like-minded women who are the same path for growth in our respected industries. Today, let’s chat about how you can find your business bestie with these three simple tips.
Connecting On Social Media
In the past seven years, I have met some of my closest friends on social media and reading blogs. Social media and blogs are meant to be engaging, social and creating interactions. My company has grown naturally by meeting my audience where they are. In turn, I have met some of the coolest people in the world. Start following women who have the same interest as you. Do you love tv shows such as; Power, Scandal, HTGAWM or Younger? Then live tweet with everyone on those nights. In addition to that, look into hashtags in your city. This is an excellent way to meet people in your proximity.
Strike Up The Conversation
I am that person who loves paying compliments to complete strangers while out and about. Last month, at KD Returns To University of Texas event, I snuck into the VIP event to rub elbows. I’ll blog about very soon. While in the room, I made sure to spark up conversations with every woman in the room noting how great they looked, loved their hair, or the color of their dress. This help me create relationships with the ladies who work for Senators, sit on school boards and more. Take the time to speak when you enter a room. Even if that room is the local grocery store or Starbucks. You never know who’s presence you are in when out and about.
Local Networking Events
No matter the size of your town local events are happening every second of the day. I tend to be an introvert that gets nervous when I am at large networking events; then realized other people are in the same shoes as I am. One of the best ways to met your bestie is at these local gatherings. You have two common dominators to help you get the ball rolling in the right direction. One you live in the same town and have the same interest in per se gathering you’re attending.
Finding your business bestie is easier than you think when you implement these easy tips. We have to step out our comfort zone when wanting to meet new people and open our surroundings.
